Gelli-plate play........mini hexagons

Hi there,

Today some play rounds with the mini Gelli-plate hexagon shape and some backgrounds made on the A4 Gelli-plate......

I have used the Distorted hive stencil (Tando) which creates a very cool effect........

I will show just some step by step photo's and this time two very simple cards.......

I used ARA acrylic paints and a speedball brayer.

ARA colors:

M530-Metallic Yellow light

M260-Gold

A1-Titanium white

C292-Sap green Lake extra

Hallo allemaal,

Vandaag wat Gelli-plate speel plezier........met de nieuwe mini Hexagon gelli-plate en wat grotere achtergronden met de vierkante Student en de grotere A4.

Ik heb hier het gave  Distorted hive stencil (Tando) gebruikt wat een heel leuk effect geeft.

Hieronder volgen wat stap voor stap foto's en twee heel simpele kaarten met alleen de mini hexagon.

De gebruikte ARA acryl verf zie je hierboven genoemd.

This is a first print, colors are vibrant

Een eerste print, kleuren zijn helder en vol

and a second(ghost) print adding some white 

voeg wat wit toe over een restant verf en je krijgt een mooie ghost print

just playing around with yellow gold and green

even wat spelen met groen en goudgeel

another bee-hive stencil (Crafters workshop)

here you can see some left-over paint, adding some white paint and you will have a lovely soft print

now onto a larger background.......

nu naar een wat grotere achtergrond(student formaat)

using the distorted hive stencil, blotting some areas with a paper towel

weer het distorted hive stencil en wat gedeeltes weg gedept met een tissue papier

 here you can see the blotted areas very well, I put the square (student) Gelli-plate onto an acrylic bloc so I can stamp with it....

hieronder kun je de weg gedepte gedeeltes goed zien, ik heb de vierkante GP(student formaat) op een acrylblok geplakt zodat je er ook mee kunt stempelen.....

deze print is de dan de eerste en behoorlijk vol en fel

residue of paint, adding some thin layer of white paint over it........

restant verf, voeg daar overheen witte verf toe in een dunne laag

and than this is the result, a lovely soft toned print........ 

en dat is dit het resultaat, een mooie zacht gekleurde print.....

terug naar de mini hexagon, breng groene verf aan, stencil erop, beetje verf weg deppen....klaar om te printen

 back to the mini hexagon, adding green paint, stencil on top and blotting a bit........ready for print

I did not finish this one yet but I have made two simple cards using only the mini Hexagon gelli-plate.......

Ik heb deze nog niet afgemaakt maar twee simpele kaarten gemaakt met de mini hexagon....

Than of course I could not stop playing and made several backgrounds........just thought to share that too, will sure use them in time.......you can combine them perfectly with Pan Pastels or acrylic markers and color pencils....... glue them in your Art Journal .......so many possibilities!

Toen, natuurlijk....kon ik niet stoppen met spelen en heb diverse grote achtergronden gemaakt met de A4 Gelli-plate, wilde dat even delen....je kunt dat zo veelzijdig gebruiken.......snij er leuke vormen uit met je mallen(bijpassende bloemen of zo) of verwerk verder met Pan Pastels, acryl markers, kleurpotloden of plak in je Art Journal.....zoveel mogelijkheden!

I found this very lovely cute cat stamp in my stash, don't know the brand anymore......the text say: Be who you are, that is real happiness! Well, I think a cat really makes that saying true!

Ik vond deze superleuke kat in mijn stempel archief, weet het merk niet meer.......en de tekst past zo goed bij een kat, die is zeker helemaal zichzelf!

Gelli-plate and Pan Pastels.........

Hi lovely people,

I was wondering about doing a combination with a gelli-print and than adding Pan Pastels. Because the surface has a nice ' bite' after working with acrylic paints it would be a great background to work on with my Pan Pastels.

I will also show the way I have build up the several GP layers in another blogpost for my contribution on the Gelli-arts Colourstock DT ( 24-11), so keep watching for that one to come!

This is how I started.....on this Gelli-print

Hallo lieve mensen,

Ik was aan het brainstormen over de combinatie van een Gelli-plate achtergrond en daarop te werken met de Pan Pastels. Omdat het oppervlak van een gelli-print een goede ' bite' heeft kunnen de Pan Pastels daarop goed hechten.

Ik zal ook laten zien hoe ik de lagen van de Gelli-print heb opgebouwd in mijn blogpost voor het Gelli-arts Colourstock team (24-11) dus kom dan weer even terug.

Zo ben ik begonnen.....met deze Gelli-print

I have cut a mask myself and put it on the print. Than I've sponged with Versamark around the mask. 
Than adding Pan Pastels Burnt Sienna and Burnt Sienna shade

This is the result.......I wanted more contrast and depth.....

A close-up, you can see the lovely shine of the ARA gold paint

now some darkening of the shadows around her with Pan Pastel Burnt Sienna Extra Dark

now using my bubbels stencil and the Metallic Pan Pastels Light gold and Rich Gold

I did some accenting of the bubbles with the golden shades

and a close-up of the golden bubbels.....

Than I finished it into a card adding a lovely flourish stamp from Magenta and a beautiful quote which very much expressed my feeling about this work......also from Magenta

I embossed the swirl with golden embossing powder.

Well, I was really satisfied after creating this and thought about how this kind of work made me happy........have to do that more often........

I also did not get ' perfect' results on my first play rounds but I needed a lot of playing and try-outs along the way.

Playing with the Gelli-plate......lots of circles

Today a creation made with the Gelli-plate and a lot of circle die cuts and a circle stencil.

I have another step by step for you, hope you enjoy it!

I have used the A5 Gelli-plate a very clever size I think. Good for square and rectangle shaped cards.

And again I have used the beautiful ARA acrylic paint. They have beautiful vibrant colors and a very good quality of pigments. I also used the ARA slow drying medium so I could work longer and pull more prints.

Hallo allemaal,

Vandaag een Gelli-plate creatie, veel cirkels, uitgesneden cirkels en een cirkel stencil.
Ik heb een stap voor stap foto tutorial gemaakt voor jullie zodat je gelijk mee kunt doen als je dat wilt.
Ik heb de A5 GP gebruikt, een zeer handig formaat, zowel voor vierkante als rechthoekige kaarten,
ook heb ik weer de ARA acrylverf gebruikt. Deze heeft mooie heldere kleuren en kwalitatief goede pigmenten. Ook heb ik het ARA slowdrying medium gebruikt zodat je langer door kunt werken met de verf en meer prints kunt maken.

4 colors which I have used in this serie of prints:(in this print I have only used the 2n and 3rd color)

ARA acrylic paints: 

Blood Red Lake D137

Light Red Orange B144.

Transparant Red Oxyde B334

Gold M260

De kleuren verf die ik gebruikt heb zie je hierboven.In deze prints heb ik alleen de middelste twee kleuren gebruikt. De anderen laat ik jullie de volgende keer zien

I mixed the paint with the ARA slow drying medium so I could work longer and make a beautiful ghost print when I wanted that.......

TIP: I don't apply the slow drying medium directly on my GP but mix it with the paint before otherwise it will create a stain on your print and that is mostly on the place you don't want it to be.

Ik heb de verf gemengd met de ARA slow drying medium zodat ik langer door kon werken en ook een ghostprint er nog af kon halen als ik dat wilde. 

TIP: Ik breng het medium niet direct op de GP aan maar meng het eerst met de verf want mijn ervaring is dat het anders een vlek veroorzaakt op je print en dat is meestal op een ongewenste plek.

 Apply the first layer of paint using Light Red Orange with a brayer

Breng de eerste laag verf Light Red Orange aan met een brayer(Speedball)

 Place the bubbles stencil on top

Leg het bubbeltjes stencil erop

 Blot some of the areas using a piece of copy paper to remove some of the paint

Dep sommige gedeeltes met een kopieerpapiertje om de verf te verwijderen of wat lichter te maken

 Pull the first print by putting your GP paper on top and give a good rub with your hands

Maak de eerste print door je papier erop te leggen en met je handen goed aan te wrijven

 This is the residue of paint on the GP

Dit is het restant van verf op je GP nu.....

This is how the first print looks....like small craters of the moon I think......

Zo ziet de eerste print eruit.......net kleine maan kraters vind ik......

Now onto the next layers......

apply another layer of paint, 

This time I've used the Transparant Red Oxyde

Nu, naar de volgende lagen.....

Breng weer een laag verf aan

Deze keer gebruikte ik de Transparant Red Oxyde

put some die cut circles on the GP

I have used frosted sheets from Tim Holtz and die cut some circles)

Leg wat uitgesneden cirkels op de GP

 Ik heb de frosted sheets van Tim Holtz hiervoor gebruikt en hier de cirkels uitgesneden

de sheets kun je vinden bij Doe@Ding en ze komen eind van deze week weer binnen. Het is een heel fijn materiaal, stevig en flexibel.

Maak aan het eind je stencils, uitgesneden vormen en je brayer weer schoon met een lauw sopje. Dan zijn ze weer klaar voor de volgende ronde. Ik heb gemerkt dat als je de verflagen laat zitten ze uiteindelijk gaan loslaten op de gelli-plate. En dat is niet fijn!

Than put the bubbles stencil on top of the other circles

Leg dan het bubbeltjes stencil eroverheen

Again blot here and there with a piece of copy paper to remove some of the paint.

gebruik weer een kopieerpapier om te deppen en hier en daar wat verf te verwijderen

Remove the stencil. You can see the texture of the removed stencil and the blotted areas.

Verwijder het stencil en je kunt nu goed de textuur zien van de bubbles en de gedeeltes waar de verf weg gedept is

Than I made the print over the Gelli-paper of my first print.

I did this the reversed way because my GP was attached onto an acrylic bloc so I could position it perfectly.

Hierna maakte ik de print over de eerste print heen. Dit deed ik andersom omdat de GP op een acrylblok zit en je er als het ware mee kan stempelen. Zo kun je het gemakkelijk op dezelfde plaats neerzetten.

This is how it came out........like the effect!

Zo kwam het eruit....ik vind het effect leuk!

And this is the card I have made with it............

I have used one of the new Flowerheads' the Circle centre flowerhead' from Chocolate Baroque. There are 6 new flower heads and they are all gorgeous! Just up to my street. You can find them here.

En hieronder dan de kaart die ik ermee maakte......

Ik heb een van de nieuwe bloemen gebruikt, the Circle centre flowerhead van Chocolate Baroque. Er zijn 6 nieuwe bloemen en ze zijn allemaal prachtig en lekker groot! Precies in mijn straatje. Je kunt ze hier vinden.

and a close-up......I have embossed some of the center circles using blue glitter embossing powder from WOW. I also embossed the die cut word .

nog een close-up....ik heb wat cirkels in het midden van de bloem geembosst met blauwe glitter embossingpoeder van WOW.

Ook het gestanste woord ' Create' heb ik hiermee gebost.
